Limited Resources

Metal and gem resources are limited. Low quality metal reserves are very large, higher quality reserves are small, while gems are very small. Once the reserve runs out you won't be able to gather it anymore, but the biome feature will still remain.

Gathering

Resources are collected to use in crafting by gathering them under Area > Resources. To start a gathering project, decide the total amount of that resource you would like to obtain at the end of the project up to 1000 units, and select gather. Your associated skill is directly proportional to how much you can gather per hour. Cancelling a gathering project that isn't complete will give you what resources you have gathered so far.

Differences Between Canceled Quality and Finished Quality

A gathering project for resources that have quality which changes with the skill of the workers will have different ways of calculating that quality depending on whether it was canceled or finished. If finished, the resulting quality will be calculated based on the skill average of all active workers at the time of completion. If canceled, the resulting quality will be calculated based on the skill average of all workers who ever participated on the project during its lifetime.

Why? It works this way because the quality of resources needs to be able to be calculated during a cancellation when there are no workers on the project anymore, so it takes the skills from project history; using the initiator's skill alone is not done because it would be exploitable.
